Is it actually quiet, or is that just marketing
It is genuinely quieter than clippers and than most cheap grinders, because the motor is balanced rather than rattling inside the housing. We are not going to quote you a decibel figure we have not measured ourselves. Try it, and if your pet still hates it, send it back within 60 days.
How do I know where to stop on black nails
This is what the light is for. Hold it against the nail and the quick shows up as a darker shadow inside. Grind in short bursts of three to five seconds and stop as soon as you see a chalky white ring appear in the centre of the nail. That ring is your signal, on any colour of nail.
Will it stall on thick nails or a large breed
No. The motor holds its speed under pressure, and turbo mode is there for exactly this. The largest port exposes the full grinding surface so you can take material off quickly on thick nails.
My pet is already terrified of nail trims. Will this help
Usually, but go slowly. Let them sniff it switched off. Then run it near them without touching a paw. Then do one nail and stop, even if you could do more. Most owners are doing full paws within two or three sessions. Trying to do all four on day one is what undoes the progress.
Is it safe for cats, kittens and small pets
